There are many coffee companies making a pitch on the Internet today. We are a small family business. We operate our micro-roaster in the Kettle river valley of northeastern Washington state. We have a passion for coffee that comes from years of striving to buy and roast exceptionally fine coffee beans. We have discovered it takes Magic, Rocket Science, and Basic Common Sense to consistently deliver superior coffee. These qualities are not universal. When you call Scott Brothers Coffee, you talk to the owners. When you order coffee from us, the beans are roasted, packaged and shipped by the owners. We are serious about coffee. We have been roasting and selling the finest arabica coffee beans since 1980. You will get only the best.

We will prove to you that our level of commitment is beyond reasonable. Please browse around the site. Read our views on flavor delivery, business philosophy and custom services. Then give us a try. The quality of our coffee and our service is rare. Here are the things we focus on:

First - the Magic The magic of course is in the bean. We have partnerships with leading importers, who specialize in organic, shade grown, and “fair trade” coffees. We purchase only the best, without cost driven compromise. We have no “stock list” of coffee origins to maintain. If, for example, an unusually long rainy season brings a bland, unexceptional crop of “Jamaica Blue Mountain”, you will not find it on our list of available coffees this year. We stock only what we find to be superior today.

Second - where Art meets Science. The roasting technique defines and controls the development of the flavor. We roast in small batches, using refined technology we developed ourselves, unavailable to the commercial roaster (and unavailable to our competitors). We build painstaking, custom roasting profiles for each individual coffee in order to ensure it will surpass your expectations. Please click on the "Art Meets Science" button in the left panel to read more about our process.

Third - the Basics. The simple truth is, the coffee must be fresh. Your satisfaction depends upon it. The full depth of a fine coffee’s flavor and aroma derive from the complex interaction of hundreds of different chemical compounds locked up and sealed within the green coffee bean. Once roasted, these compounds become volatile. Coffee beans must be sealed in an airtight container and consumed within a few days if you want your cup to deliver all the exotic nuances contained in these magic beans. If you freeze this airtight container, you will preserve 95% of the beans flavor for about two weeks. Ever wonder what Starbucks does to preserve the flavor on 500 lbs of coffee in the display case when they lock the door every night? Grocery stores sell “gourmet” coffees in fancy packaging… How many hours since it was roasted? How long did it take to roast and how long did it sit in a bin before packaging? We roast and ship daily. You’ll have the fresh beans at your door faster than most beans get to the display case. You’ll keep them airtight. You’ll grind them just before you brew… you’ll brew strong and serve fresh. The finest coffee in your cup, this is what we are about.
